One week he's winning a Grand National Steeplechase, the next a feature race for three-year-old fillies at Caulfield.
There appears to be no stopping trainer Ciaron Maher.
Last Sunday, Bashboy gave Maher yet another Grand National success while on Saturday Petits Filous kept her unbeaten record intact when she claimed the Group Three Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.
Ridden by Damien Oliver, Petits Filous ($1.85 favourite) scored by 1-1/4 lengths from Jalan Jalan ($5) with Miss Gunpowder ($6) a nose away third.
Maher has an exciting prospect on his hands in Petits Filous who has graduated from winning two Moonee Valley races on rain-affected ground to an all-the-way success on a firm track on Saturday.
The trainer identified the Quezette Stakes as an early target race for the filly and said he was tempted to give her a short break and aim towards the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on Derby day.
"Today was a real test for her," Maher said.
"We'll see how she pulls up from today and make a decision off the back of that.
"Maybe a race like the Coolmore off a little break might be an option for her, but today was a target race."
Petits Filous ran the 1100m journey in 1:03.10, which was 1.32 seconds quicker than Gold Symphony clocked in winning the Vain Stakes for the colts and geldings a race earlier.
Maher admitted he was concerned Petits Filous went through the first section of the race too quickly but he felt more comfortable when the filly had her rivals off the bit before the turn.
Oliver said Petits Filous had wanted to over-race in the early stages but he was impressed with the way she knuckled down in the straight.
"She was quite keen today compared to last time," he said.
"She wanted to over-do it and hence took her kick away at the end.
"When I called for her today it was probably the first time that I've had to put her under full pressure, but she responded well."
