A careless riding suspension has put paid to Brenton Avdulla's hopes of riding at Saturday week's Memsie Stakes program in Melbourne.
Avdulla was outed for six meetings for causing interference aboard the Gerald Ryan-trained Deploy near the 600m of the TAB Rewards Handicap at Canterbury on Wednesday.
The jockey, who rode Italian Derby winner Goldstream into fourth place in the Grade One Secretariat Stakes at Arlington last weekend, will ride at Randwick on Saturday before starting his penalty.
"I was a chance of going to Melbourne for the Memsie next weekend for Lloyd Williams but obviously that will be a no-go and I'm going to miss a Group One meeting there," Avdulla told stewards at Canterbury.
Avdulla, whose Randwick book includes filly Fireworks for Ryan in the Group Two Silver Shadow Stakes and Foreteller for Chris Waller in the Warwick Stakes, can return to the saddle on September 5.
The rider didn't have any joy on the track at Canterbury either but it was a different story for Glyn Schofield who took riding honours with a treble.
Schofield scored wins aboard the Waller-trained pair of Dance Of Heroes and Dupe `Em along with the Bart and James Cummings-trained Tempt Me Not.
