Lightly raced filly Payroll will launch her three-year-old campaign in a Listed race up the straight at Flemington.
The Richard Laming-trained filly will contest the Cap D'Antibes Stakes (1100m) on Saturday with the view to bigger and better races later in the spring.
Laming had the daughter of Not A Single Doubt nominated for the Atlantic Jewel Stakes at Moonee Valley but decided to hold her over for another week.
Her first Group One goal is the Thousand Guineas on the way to the VRC Oaks.
Payroll endured a lot of travelling during her juvenile year which Laming said she handled well.
She enjoyed a good spell in Queensland before beginning the early stages of her preparation with Laming's trainer-father Bevan.
Payroll began her career defeating The Barrister, a subsequent stakes winner at Randwick during The Championships, at Sale before a luckless run in Adelaide when fifth in March.
She returned to Melbourne where she ran second to Black Vanquish in Listed grade at Caulfield on April 18 before venturing to Queensland where she finished down the track in the Sires' Produce Stakes at Doomben, a track Laming said Payroll failed to negotiate.
"I think the 1100 metres down the straight at Flemington will suit her," Laming said.
"She spelled up in Queensland and when she came into work she trialled up there down our straight track."
"She flew back a couple of weeks ago and will run at Flemington and after that she'll head to the Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield."
Connections have such an of Payroll they have also nominated her for the Cox Plate.
"We couldn't be happier with how she's come back," Laming said.
"She's come back bigger and stronger and has matured into a nice filly."
