We have a horse that seems to get a heavy dandruff in his tail.It is Itchy and he loses the hair. Hoping one of you can help with an idea of what to treat it with?

My mare had the same problem, mane and tail. I went to the saddlery and got some anti-fungal wash (eg quit-itch)and used that. AND before I show her, you know what works well? Listerine - I kid you not, mouth-wash! Just apply to the tail/mane, leave overnight and rinse the next day. Do it 2 days in a row and dandruff is all gone!! I swear by it now.
Dont put any oily stuff on it, as it'll make it worse.

Selsun Blue Anti-dandruff shampoo from the supermarker. Had a welsh pony who used to get dreadful itchy dandruff in his mane. Couple of washes and it fixed the problem. Just make sure you rinse it out thoroughly as any soap/shampoo residue left on will only make the problem worse.

Rub some olive oil into the tail and leave over night,then wash it out.Try it for a few days it should work.
