My friend has a saddle with cair panels. After numerous fittings to get the saddle right her horse is still not happy. Would anyone know if we changed the cair panels to normal stuffed panels would that make a difference. I know some people have had trouble with cair and just wanted to know if changing would make a difference. I am in not way looking for any nasty comment against cair just a solution to my friends problem. Thank you

If the saddle does not fit then it does not fit , cair panels or not.The panels are thin so they do not suit some horses esp fat ponies because the saddle moves around too easily.I have the cair system on my horse and it has made such a difference that I will use no other system. No pressure points , no sweat lumps and no back problems. Fantastic!! I have heard of no other problems except as above with the real little fatties. My horse is big but with a good whither . Interesting in what comes up here with other people .

I had a CAIR saddle and couldn't get it to fit either - gave up in the end and sold it. A friend was also having the same problems and ended up getting Flair put in hers, she is really please with the result.

If it dosen't fit it won't. I am one who also gave up on one.
No way amount of adjusting would make it fit.

Thank you for the replies. My friends horse is a TB with a good to high wither. She has had the horseland saddle fitter out 3 times and the saddle has been altered and still the horse is not happy. She is really at the stage where she does not know what to do. That is why I posted here to ask for some advice. Thank you everyone you have been a big help.

My local Horseland rep advised that they won't fit a CAIR saddle to a horse with a high wither, they have had no end of problems with the saddles on horses of this type.

One of my horses has a very high wither and quite thin, my saddle has Cair panels and i've had it fitted to him once and its been fine all along, he loves that saddle :7 and my other horse is very fat and he uses the same and is fine, he likes it as well :7

To "Friend" can I suggest that your friend tries an independent saddler to fit the saddle. Try and find someone who actually makes saddles. If you are in Victoria you could try either Peter Horobin or Bruce Smith.

I agree with Jules P - if you can get to speak with Peter Horobin (he does travel all over the country) I can highly recommend him. He isa qualified to comment on saddle fit and highly experienced on this specialised subject. go to:

[http://www.horobin.com.au] and read the special area about saddle fitting, it is most interesting.
