Can you feed horses sorghum hay? Has anyone ever feed it to their horses? How did it go?
Thanks. I'm just looking at different options.

Don't know anybody who fed it to horses, actually, I have never seen sorghum hay in any of the feed merchants'. Now as you have mentioned it, I think it would be worthwhile investigating re suitability for horses. This grass/grain is very hardy and seems to do o.k. in dry conditions.
Any farmers out there, who know more about it???

I know a few people who have put sorghum round bales in their paddocks during the drought, just to give the horses something to pick at during the day. The horses don't devour it like it is their favourite food, but they do nibble at it and it gives them something to do when there is no pasture about.

Thanks Norma. That link contained just what I was after. I think I will get the hay as it looks nice and green and free from mould or dust.
