I have just got my new western saddle after waiting 4 months for it to be made. I was wondering how much dressing I should put on new leather? I bought some Oakwoods leather cream and have put 3 coats on in the last week. I want the leather to be nice and soft but not too soft so that the leather goes all squishy and horrible. Thanks :-)

I don't ride western, and the impression I get of western saddles, is that they have pretty thick leather. But if you've done three coats, I'd stop right there, at least for now. Don't forget it will soften and break in as you use it more. You'd hate to find you had applied too much. You can always put another coat on a few months down the track if need be.
