Ran a hot wire along the top of the posts - no more problems.

It may be a long shot but my horse was chewing wood posts and an old timer told me stick some chammomile in his dinner. (suspecting gripey gut). It worked and now about twice or three times a week I chuck in a handful.

He is a bit of a stresshead this horse tho.

Dunno if it will work for your horse or not, but I use to put vegemite on the rails that my boys chewed and it stopped him quick smart....but then again...some horses might like it? i dunno, but worked for me.....oh works wonders on sarcoids too...lol

You can buy stuff called Red Hot that will stop chewing. I think you can get it from Horseland or online.

There is product called "Cleansote" which has replaced creosote - more expensive of course :+

Ha ha! One of our TB's just loved this stuff and would go along the fence rail licking it off. Then would lick his lips and pull faces for hours afterwards! }( He was a Chestnut though so maybe he just had 'hot taste buds'??? LOL
