I'd like to know what things you need to do to Register a Thoroughbred Stallion to be able to breed and register foals.
I have taken over my grandfathers mares and have been offered a stallion.
My grandfather has always helped me with this sort of thing in the past but due to illness and getting on I've been unable to ask him for help.
The stallion has raced, and I have the papers. He has never been to stud.
Is it also ture that an ASB registered stallion can not serve non stud book mares?

Hi Natural Player,
if the stallion has raced then his registration is current.
I do not know what paper work is required with respect to the ASB and breeding with a stallion but my advice would be to give them a ring. When ever I have had any questions I have rung them and have always found their staff most obliging.

Don't quote me, I am sure you can serve Non- SB mares although the produce can not be entered into the Studbook. I would call the Australian Studbook in Randwick NSW and they will be happy to answer any questions. Cheers
