    Default Roll Call....

Very quiet here as usual, how is everyone coping with this wonderful year, 2020 - the Year of Plenty- ( Disasters for the human race) Life here is pretty quiet, lucky to live in a smaller community, not far from the shops, at least they have a few items in them now. I became a toilet paper collector also, but I gave some to desperate friends.
I wander out into the bush still, quiet and isolated there.
Hope everyone is doing well, well as can be expected.

It is quiet and eerie here as well on the Mornington Peninsula. I have been still going into work and drive through Frankston at the end of my day and it is strange with the lack of cars on the road. Its easy to park. A lot of shops are closed. Plus all the homeless beggars have disappeared. Missing not being able to take Alfie and Badger out on trail walks. Strange thing for them is where they live the new owners of the property are busy renovating including upgrading fencing . So after nearly a year with them on their own all day now they have something to watch. The painter there must of thought he won tatts with landing a painting job he can do during isolation. Hope everyone keeps well. Keep hugging your horses as they dont understand why things have changed.

Sometimes it pays to be happy with your own company...I have been grounded work wise, but coping with doing everything by phone. More frustrated by not being able to have regular clinics - but have got my internet sorted enough for FaceTime lessons, but miss the social aspect.

Cyrus I won't complain again about being semi remote and miles from anywhere, it suits fine just now. Still have the ponies I found through the old VicHorse and Eques forums - (miss them much, wonder how some of the old regulars there are doing). Not riding - 80 next year, sheesh, how did this happen? Dabbling with driving, two ponies going but hadn't got them out and about and Covid might write paid to that for me.
For your coping question, it's all a bit surreal and too early to digest and analyse. Because a lot of my working life was overseas with Foreign Affairs I relate hard to what is happening in some countries I called home for years. Yet not comprehending what is happening here at home: the self isolation doesn't affect me - I grow some vegies and 'do' farmers markets, so still at a stand at the few still running, same stall holders same customers. Not living in a bubble, very aware of the horror of it all, but nothing has really changed for me except no Ag shows, that cuts to the quick. We were financially smashed by drought and rabbits but bigger picture is that fairly broke but walking across my own little paddocks is pure gold compared to being isolated in a house or flat on a street in a leafy suburb with a good income. The animals keep me sane.

    Hi all.
to me its EI all over again but its us thats the target instead of our neddies.

Bit of a relief in that though

daughter is doing my shopping for me, was doing the shopping for my neighbour who has low immunity as she is diabetic... Well that was until I had my 3 monthly checkup with my oncologist.

    gee shes the emotional type?

    went ballistic!

sent me off for another blood test, (gee she has a thing about blood tests)

Informed me my friend was in no way the same danger as I was, that immune compromised scale she should be doing my shopping.

oh well, I love going shopping, window shopping, garden centre window shopping, just the best stress release, wander home happy as a lark.

Although on a scale of 1 to 10 bush walking and riding is a ten

    the alternative is a 6

now of course both are banned

I had decided to get Tilly going again since feeling much better and to my utter delight had not only qualified her for Sydney Royal this year, was also accepted for both her led and ridden classes.

To ensure she was going to be spot on for her Royal Debut, sent her off to a friend of daughters for fine tuning.

Then of course our version of ei arrived

...of course now I have no idea when she will be home again.
Her friend is now so in love with Tilly I suspect I am going to need a crowbar to part them long enough to get Tilly on the float

So I know exactly how your feeling Sherbrooke

But Ive discovered a golden side to this.

Our darling pets and neddies are such a comfort

    take care all.

I'm with you on the where did the years go Sherbrooke, 72 now still cant believe it

Since I think we all need Pony porn..... Tilly in exile.........sigh so hard to only have photos instead of huggable

That's a shame Mindari, but glad to hear you feel fine, I tell my Dr to come spend a day with me and see what I get up to, we all need to keep busy.
So I just keep plodding about, we have had a lot of rain for the beginning of the year. Not sinking in too far, but it is pretty wet here in some places still, and very green.
Glad I live on 5 acres, that's for sure.
Just enjoying life.. I do not miss shopping, but I miss the items I usually buy, but at least that is also improving. In one end of the shop, out the other, at least most people are trying to abide by the new rules to keep people safe. BUT there was a nice BIG BBQ in the cottage behind us last night, so some people deserve what they get really, sadly they won't ever get it , bit like drink drivers I suppose.
Today, we tripped a bit in the soft ground.

Cyrus, we're green here and it is wonderful,But, typical of this area it is all capered and Deadly Nightshade! i look around my lovely green paddocks and snuggle to even see a blade of grass - try sad. I'm hoping the frosts will do me a big favour fingers crossed

Well, what a week! 22oC Monday and now the apparent is minus 1oC!! Mild Monday, almost muggy then overnight mid winter. Not Nice!! Winds 30-40kms Driving rain showers and ICY. My first set of rugs got sodden, I suspect from horses lying in puddles so I've had to go through all my rugs for the heavy warm ones Poor horses it's bitter weather!

    Stay safe everyone
